DayHab welcomes Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Ranvir Sood to the team
Dr Sood is a Consultant Psychiatrist with expertise in the assessment and treatment of addiction disorders of all kinds. He has worked with over 3000 clients suffering moderate to severe addictions to ice, speed, cannabis, opiates, cocaine, alcohol and other substances, and also with gambling and sex addiction. He specializes in assessing the motivations that drive addiction and in helping not only the individual, but also their partner or family members to help the person who is struggling with these problems. His approach to recovery takes into account the whole person, their development and coping mechanisms, and their network including family.
Dr Sood has background of extensive experience as a clinical psychiatrist dealing with the full range of mental health issues, as well as additional training in child and adolescent psychiatry (RANZCP) and in family therapy (Bouverie). He has previously held long standing appointments as a Senior Consultant in State Psychiatric Services at Geelong and Mont Park, as well as an Associate in Psychiatry at both Monash and Melbourne Universities, and as Clinical Dean for the Melbourne University’s Northern Psychiatric Campus. He has had considerable involvement in the training of psychiatrists and supervision of drug and alcohol workers.
He currently runs a private practice specializing in Psychiatry as well as providing guidance, support and therapy for people, who have had serious addiction problems and their families, after they have completed rehab program.
